Omega Speedmaster Moonphase Co-Axial Master Chronometer Chronograph

The Speedmaster Moonphase combines the iconic Speedmaster chronograph concept with an astronomical moonphase complication and advanced mechanical technology. This Sedna™ Gold and black-dial configuration creates a particularly luxurious interpretation, pairing the warm tone of OMEGA’s proprietary rose-gold alloy with a deep metallic black dial.

The documented reference 304.63.44.52.01.001 features an 18K Sedna™ Gold case, black ceramic detailing, black metallic dial, and black alligator leather strap. Published specifications identify the watch as a 44.25 mm automatic chronograph with a transparent caseback and 100 metres of water resistance.

Sedna™ Gold Case Design

The defining feature of this Speedmaster Moonphase is its 18K Sedna™ Gold construction. OMEGA’s Sedna™ Gold gives the watch a distinctive warm rose-gold appearance while maintaining the precious-metal character expected from a high-end luxury timepiece.

The polished and satin-finished case surfaces create contrast across the rounded Speedmaster architecture, while the matching gold crown and chronograph pushers reinforce the premium aesthetic.

Black Dial

The metallic black dial provides a dramatic contrast against the Sedna™ Gold case. Its sunburst-style finish allows the surface to react subtly to changing light, while the applied Sedna™ Gold hour markers and hands maintain visual consistency with the case.

The dark dial also gives the chronograph and moonphase displays a strong, highly legible presence.

Ceramic Tachymeter Bezel

The watch features a black ceramic bezel ring with a tachymeter scale finished using OMEGA’s Ceragold™ technique. The combination of black ceramic and Sedna™ Gold creates one of the strongest visual elements of the design.

The tachymeter scale also preserves an important part of the Speedmaster’s traditional motorsport-inspired identity.

Co-Axial Master Chronometer Movement

The Speedmaster Moonphase is powered by OMEGA’s automatic Co-Axial Master Chronometer movement family. The gold versions of this Moonphase generation use the Calibre 9905, while the closely related steel versions use Calibre 9904. The gold movement incorporates a gold rotor and is part of the same highly technical 9900-series architecture.

The movement combines automatic winding, a column-wheel chronograph, Co-Axial escapement, date functionality, and moonphase indication.

Moonphase Display

The moonphase display is one of the most distinctive features of this Speedmaster. Positioned at 6 o’clock, it adds an astronomical complication without disrupting the balanced chronograph layout.

The Moonphase generation uses a detailed moon display designed to provide a highly realistic representation of the lunar surface. Earlier documentation of the collection notes that the gold versions use a gold-textured moon rather than the moon-meteorite treatment found on some other models.

Chronograph Functionality

The chronograph layout provides the watch with its signature Speedmaster character. The 3 o’clock subdial combines the chronograph’s hour and minute recording functions, while the 9 o’clock subdial provides running seconds and incorporates the date indication.

This creates a sophisticated two-register visual arrangement while leaving the moonphase display clearly visible at 6 o’clock.

Black Leather Strap

The Sedna™ Gold and black-dial configuration is paired with a black alligator leather strap and a folding clasp. The dark strap reinforces the black-and-gold color combination and gives the watch a more formal appearance than a standard stainless-steel bracelet.
