Omega Speedmaster Moonphase “Blue Side of the Moon”

The Speedmaster Moonphase “Blue Side of the Moon” is one of OMEGA’s most distinctive interpretations of the Speedmaster concept. Reference 304.93.44.52.03.001 combines a 44.25 mm blue ceramic case with a matching blue ceramic dial and blue leather strap.

The watch is powered by OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9904, a self-winding chronograph movement certified by METAS and resistant to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss. The movement provides approximately 60 hours of power reserve.

Blue Ceramic Case

The defining feature of the Omega Blue Ceramic Watch is its full blue ceramic construction. The case measures 44.25 mm in diameter and approximately 17.04 mm thick.

The deep blue ceramic gives the watch a modern technical appearance while keeping the overall design closely connected to the Speedmaster’s sporty character.

Blue Ceramic Dial

The Speedmaster Blue Watch features a matching blue ceramic dial with 18K white-gold indexes and hands. The blue-on-blue configuration creates a cohesive appearance across the entire watch.

The dial retains the familiar Speedmaster chronograph layout while incorporating the additional moonphase complication at 6 o’clock.

Blue Ceramic Bezel and Liquidmetal™ Tachymeter

The bezel is crafted in blue ceramic and features a Liquidmetal™ tachymeter scale. This preserves one of the most recognizable functional design elements associated with the Speedmaster chronograph.

The dark blue bezel also creates a seamless visual connection between the case and dial.

Moonphase Display

The Speedmaster Moonphase incorporates an accurate moonphase display at 6 o’clock. The moonphase disc is made from blue ceramic and features representations of both the near and far sides of the moon using Liquidmetal™.

This gives the watch an especially distinctive astronomical character compared with a conventional chronograph.

Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9904

At the heart of the watch is the OMEGA Calibre 9904, a self-winding chronograph movement with a column wheel and Co-Axial escapement.

The movement is officially certified as a Master Chronometer by METAS and is resistant to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss. It operates at 4 Hz and provides approximately 60 hours of power reserve.

Chronograph and Date Functions

The watch combines chronograph timing with several additional functions. The Calibre 9904 provides central hours, minutes and chronograph seconds, small seconds, date indication, 12-hour and 60-minute chronograph recorders, and the moonphase display.

This combination makes the Omega Blue Chronograph both technically detailed and visually distinctive.

Blue Leather Strap

The blue ceramic case is matched with a blue leather strap, creating a consistent all-blue appearance.

The official specification identifies the strap as alligator leather and pairs it with a blue ceramic foldover clasp.

Sapphire Crystal and Transparent Caseback

The Speedmaster Moonphase Blue Side of the Moon uses scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides.

A transparent caseback allows the wearer to view the Calibre 9904 movement, adding another visual element to the technical character of the watch.
